About The Customer
The primary customers of UTN are its students, teachers, officials, and the community in general. The university offers 46 undergraduate programs and 11 post-graduate programs, educating 10,933 undergraduate and 221 postgraduate students. It provides onsite, semi-online, and online courses, and offers online services to its students, teachers, and employees. The university also has an Integrated University Computer System (SIIU), used by the four main pillars: academic, research, engagement, and management. The university is always looking for the best way to solve unforeseen issues that may occur in the processes, which led to the implementation of the AuraQuantic iBPMS.
The Challenge
The Technical University of the North (Universidad Técnica del Norte - UTN) in Ecuador, with its growing student population and expanding academic programs, faced several challenges in managing its academic, research, engagement, and management fields. The university lacked a means to perform virtual procedures such as the issuance of online registration certificates, generation of work certificates, and electronic issuance of event certificates. There was no immediate communication channel, leading to delays and excessive use of paper. The university also struggled with repetitive and unnecessary tasks, and inadequate security measures such as electronic signature or QR code. These challenges affected the university's main stakeholders - students, teachers, officials, and the community in general.
The Solution
UTN addressed these challenges by implementing process automation through an Intelligent Business Process Management Suite (iBPMS) called AuraQuantic. This solution allowed access to the systems from any geographical location and linked the reports generated from the Integrated University Computer System (SIIU). It also embedded the electronic signature and QR code for validation and veracity, stored them in a digital file, and sent them to the user’s email quickly and securely. This led to the issuance of online registration certificates, generation of work certificates and work history, and issuance of electronic certificates for events. The solution not only improved the speed and security of these processes but also reduced paper usage and unnecessary tasks.

Many large manufacturers in and outside Japan are competing for larger market share in the same space, expecting a growing demand for projectors in the areas of entertainment, which requires glamor and strong visual performance as well as digital signage that can attract people’s attention. “It is becoming more and more difficult to differentiate ourselves with stand-alone hardware products,” says Kazuyuki Kitagawa, Director of Service & Support at Panasonic AVC Networks. “In order for Panasonic to grow market share and overall business, it is essential for us to develop solutions that deliver significant added value.” Panasonic believes projection failure and quality deterioration should never happen. This is what and has driven them to make their projectors IoT-enabled. More specifically, Panasonic has developed a system that collects data from projectors, visualizes detailed operational statuses, and predicts issues and address them before failure occurs. Their projectors are embedded with a variety of sensors that measure power supply, voltage, video input/ output signals, intake/exhaust air temperatures, cooling fan operations, and light bulb operating time. These sensors have been used to make the projector more intelligent, automatically suspending operation when the temperature rises excessively, and automatically switching light bulbs. Although this was a great first step, Panasonic projectors were still not equipped with any capability to send the data over a network.
