About The Customer
Double Robotics is a company that offers telepresence robots to enable more true-to-life remote collaboration experiences. They created the Double Robot, an ultra-slick iPad on wheels controlled via a remote web interface or from any iOS device. The company aims to enhance the remote working experience by allowing workers to interact more realistically with their colleagues overseas. Additionally, they also aim to help children have a physical presence in the classroom, even when they can't be there in person. The company's CEO, David Cann, emphasizes the importance of low-latency, high-quality, encrypted video for their product.
The Challenge
Double Robotics, a company that offers telepresence robots for more realistic remote collaboration experiences, faced a significant challenge. They wanted to enable more realistic interactions for remote workers overseas and help children attend class even when they can't make it there in person. The need to be in different places, whether it's a meeting across the city or an office on the other side of the world, is a common challenge in today's globalized world. However, it's not always possible or affordable to physically be there. Double Robotics aimed to overcome this challenge by allowing workers to interact more realistically with their colleagues overseas and enabling children to have a physical presence in the classroom, even when they can't be there in person.
The Solution
Double Robotics leveraged the Vonage Video API to enhance its telepresence robot. By combining Vonage's real-time video with their advanced robotics, they created a simple and elegant way to be somewhere else in the world. The Vonage Video API platform powers video streams between Double Robotics users, integrating seamlessly into the robot's interface. Users can even keep the robot at eye level by adjusting the height remotely, which helps make conversations more fluid and real. Double Robotics CEO David Cann emphasized that low-latency, high-quality, encrypted video is a top priority for their product, and Vonage's WebRTC SDK is the only solution that meets and exceeds all of these requirements on both iOS and the web.

Premium Appliance Producer Innovates with Internet of Everything
Sub-Zero faced the largest product launch in the company’s history:It wanted to launch 60 new products as scheduled while simultaneously opening a new “greenfield” production facility, yet still adhering to stringent quality requirements and manage issues from new supply-chain partners. A the same time, it wanted to increase staff productivity time and collaboration while reducing travel and costs.

Aerospace & Defense Case Study Airbus
For the development of its new wide-body aircraft, Airbus needed to ensure quality and consistency across all internal and external stakeholders. Airbus had many challenges including a very aggressive development schedule and the need to ramp up production quickly to satisfy their delivery commitments. The lack of communication extended design time and introduced errors that drove up costs.

ABB Robot Calibration
The company manufactures marina products through robot milling but observed important errors in the surface quality of their machined parts. It uses an ABB IRB 6640-130/3.2 robot, which has 130 kg payload, 3.2 m reach, 0.050 mm repeatability, and was not factory calibrated. On top of that, the robot is placed on a linear track, which introduces yet another source of errors.

Porsche Announces Augmented Reality at Scale, Powered by Atheer
The usual practice for car repairs at a Porsche car dealership is to have a factory representative or regional engineer visit to help diagnose the problem, and sometimes a faulty assembly is shipped back to company HQ for damage analysis. All that costs time and money for customers and dealers alike.

Accurate Robot Machining
Industrial robots are highly repeatable but not very accurate. However, through a robot calibration process the accuracy of a robot arm can be improved to the point where it is close to its repeatability, usually under the 0.100 mm mark. This is becoming very attractive to small and medium enterprises as robot arms are very affordable and can be used for multiple manufacturing applications, including machining materials such as wood, plastic or marble.
