About The Customer
Fluent, Inc (NASDAQ: FLNT) is a leading company in customer acquisition, leveraging its direct response expertise to drive engagement and power discovery for leading brands. The company uses proprietary data science to connect audiences of data-rich consumers to targeted offers, allowing them to find new opportunities, content, and products that enhance their lives. Established in 2010 and headquartered in New York City, Fluent's team of experts have invested over $1B in media across its digital media portfolio to build a global audience available through 500+ DSPs, DMPs, online publishers, and programmatic platforms. Fluent uses channels like SMS and email to communicate with users who have provided consent to be contacted and who could be a good fit for their growth marketing partners.
The Challenge
Fluent, a leader in customer acquisition, was facing a significant challenge with SMS deliverability in Canada. The company uses various channels, including SMS and email, to communicate with users who have consented to be contacted and who could be a good fit for their growth marketing partners. However, in 2021, Fluent was struggling with SMS deliverability in Canada, which was affecting their ability to connect with users and deliver targeted offers. The company needed a quick and effective solution to this problem to maintain its competitive advantage and continue driving high-intent customers to their clients.
The Solution
Fluent turned to Plivo for a solution to their SMS deliverability problem. Plivo’s SMS API and Powerpack were implemented, which solved the deliverability issue and enabled Fluent to connect with its users using tailored SMS messaging. Plivo’s Powerpack feature automatically distributes message traffic across a pool of source numbers while keeping businesses compliant with per-day and per-second throughput limits. This feature made the process easier for Fluent, as they did not have to worry about sending speeds or pooling numbers together. Additionally, Plivo’s API was easy to use for Fluent’s developers, allowing them to get up and running within a day or two of getting started. Beyond ease of use, Plivo offered transparency in reporting, which was critical for Fluent to check the SMS logs and see the messages that were delivered and undelivered, and understand why messages were undelivered.

Turning A Stadium Into A Smart Building
Honeywell created what it called the “intelligent system” for the National Stadium in Beijing, China, turning the venue for the opening and closing events at the 2008 Summer Olympics into a “smart building.” Designed by highly controversial artist Ai Weiwei, the “Bird’s Nest” remains one of the most impressive feats of stadium architecture in the world. The 250,000 square meter structure housed more than 100,000 athletes and spectators at a time. To accommodate such capacity, China turned to Honeywell’s EBI Integrated Building Management System to create an integrated “intelligent system” for improved building security, safety and energy efficiency.

Improving Vending Machine Profitability with the Internet of Things (IoT)
The vending industry is undergoing a sea change, taking advantage of new technologies to go beyond just delivering snacks to creating a new retail location. Intelligent vending machines can be found in many public locations as well as company facilities, selling different types of goods and services, including even computer accessories, gold bars, tickets, and office supplies. With increasing sophistication, they may also provide time- and location-based data pertaining to sales, inventory, and customer preferences. But at the end of the day, vending machine operators know greater profitability is driven by higher sales and lower operating costs.

Buoy Status Monitoring with LoRa
The Netherlands are well-known for their inland waterways, canals, sluices and of course port activities. The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure indicates that there are thousands of buoys and fixed items in and near water environments that would profit from IoT monitoring. One of the problems with buoys for example, is that they get hit by ships and the anchor cable breaks. Without connectivity, it takes quite some time to find out that something has happened with that buoy. Not to mention the costs of renting a boat to go to the buoy to fix it. Another important issue, is that there is no real-time monitoring of the buoys at this moment. Only by physically visiting the object on the water, one gains insight in its status.
