About The Customer
The customer is a Fortune 1000 company and a leading diversified insurance benefits provider. Concerned about the increasing number of high-profile breaches targeting the insurance industry, the company sought to enhance its security measures. They initially turned to CrowdStrike for intelligence on adversaries targeting their sector, which led to penetration testing of their environment. The tests revealed deficiencies in their current endpoint protection tools, prompting the company to seek a more comprehensive solution.
The Challenge
Insurance companies are increasingly targeted by adversaries, leading to high-profile breaches. The customer needed better insight into potential attackers and their tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). The Board of Directors and CISO requested a penetration test to be completed within two weeks. The test revealed gaps in security posture and ineffective endpoint protection. The current vendor could not provide the necessary prevention capabilities, and detection and visibility were incomplete, taking too long to gather data for the Security Operation Center.
The Solution
The customer evaluated CrowdStrike and decided to deploy Falcon Host for enhanced visibility, detection, prevention, protection, and forensics on its endpoints and servers. Replacing the previous solution with Falcon Host allowed them to reclaim 5 to 8 percent of CPU utilization. They also implemented Falcon Intelligence for ongoing visibility into the threat landscape, aiding in risk management and mitigation efforts. The customer continues to use CrowdStrike's proactive services and has an incident response retainer in place.

Smooth Transition to Energy Savings
The building was equipped with four end-of-life Trane water cooled chillers, located in the basement. Johnson Controls installed four York water cooled centrifugal chillers with unit mounted variable speed drives and a total installed cooling capacity of 6,8 MW. Each chiller has a capacity of 1,6 MW (variable to 1.9MW depending upon condenser water temperatures). Johnson Controls needed to design the equipment in such way that it would fit the dimensional constraints of the existing plant area and plant access route but also the specific performance requirements of the client. Morgan Stanley required the chiller plant to match the building load profile, turn down to match the low load requirement when needed and provide an improvement in the Energy Efficiency Ratio across the entire operating range. Other requirements were a reduction in the chiller noise level to improve the working environment in the plant room and a wide operating envelope coupled with intelligent controls to allow possible variation in both flow rate and temperature. The latter was needed to leverage increased capacity from a reduced number of machines during the different installation phases and allow future enhancement to a variable primary flow system.
