About The Customer
GinSan Industries, established in 1976 and based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a prominent provider of self-service car wash equipment. The company designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of car wash equipment and has expanded its services to include convenience stores, gas stations, manufacturing facilities, apartment complexes, golf courses, and rental car companies. As a full-service company, GinSan Industries offers site inspection, product recommendation, custom design and manufacturing, as well as installation and servicing of equipment. The company is a leader in equipment rehabilitation services, enhancing customer experience and sales by adding products like coin acceptors, display features, and credit card acceptors to existing systems.
The Challenge
GinSan Industries faced significant challenges with its outdated materials resource planning (MRP) system, which was unable to efficiently handle the complexities of their customized product offerings. The company needed to streamline its operations, particularly in generating accurate bills of materials (BOM) for custom orders. The existing system often resulted in errors due to manual data entry, leading to production inefficiencies and potential customer dissatisfaction. As GinSan Industries expanded its business divisions, it became evident that an upgraded enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution was necessary to improve data accuracy and operational efficiency.
The Solution
To address the challenges, GinSan Industries implemented the Plex Cloud ERP system, which offered industry-specific functionalities and ease of use. The Plex Option Configurator was a key feature that allowed the company to define features and relationships in a single BOM for each order. This system enabled salespeople to quickly generate accurate BOMs by selecting part numbers from a limited list, reducing errors and improving efficiency. The real-time data availability provided by Plex Cloud ERP allowed GinSan Industries to track parts, calculate prices, and monitor job progress seamlessly. This integration not only simplified the order process but also enabled salespeople to offer valuable advice and upsell products and services to customers.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).

Monitoring of Pressure Pumps in Automotive Industry
A large German/American producer of auto parts uses high-pressure pumps to deburr machined parts as a part of its production and quality check process. They decided to monitor these pumps to make sure they work properly and that they can see any indications leading to a potential failure before it affects their process.
