About The Customer
Malwarebytes is a cybersecurity company dedicated to eliminating malware threats worldwide. The company is known for its robust products that detect and block an average of 8.8 million threats daily. Based in Santa Clara, Malwarebytes provides unmatched support and service to ensure any issues are promptly addressed and resolved. The company is committed to maintaining a high level of cybersecurity for its clients, which include both individual users and businesses. As a mid-size company, Malwarebytes is focused on scaling its operations and improving efficiency through automation and data integration, which are critical to its mission of providing top-tier cybersecurity solutions.
The Challenge
Bill VanderWall, Malwarebytes Business Applications VP, faced significant challenges due to data silos within the company. Teams had to manually organize data for each project or request, leading to inefficiencies and a burden on staff. The finance and accounting functions were particularly affected, as information was siloed in disparate systems, resulting in a departmental approach to technology as the business scaled. High-volume tasks remained manual and burdensome, and the data warehouse did not collect all the necessary information to support hypergrowth. This situation hindered the ability to efficiently mine processes like contract renewals, software upgrades, and usage-based billing, which required excessive human interaction.
The Solution
To address the challenges of data silos and manual processes, Bill VanderWall implemented a solution centered around Workato's exchange-load-transform technology. This approach involved orchestrating disparate SaaS, ecommerce, and internal systems to feed all information into Snowflake, creating a centralized and productive data architecture. The solution automated data flows to Snowflake, as well as reporting, renewals, and billing processes. VanderWall's team expanded the use of Workato to automate contract renewals, software upgrades, and quality assurance tasks. Over 100 Workato recipes are now in use at Malwarebytes, significantly reducing the manual workload and enhancing operational efficiency.
Operational Impact
