The Challenge
Iron Mountain, a global leader in information management, faced challenges in improving their driving culture and reducing risks, safety incidents, and costs associated with their fleet operations. The company aimed to fulfill their legal duty under Health & Safety legislation and embarked on a comprehensive risk assessment program for all commercial vehicle drivers. This program initially reduced reported incidents by 71% and cut the cost of claims by 43% in two years. To further enhance their efforts, Iron Mountain partnered with its insurance provider, Zurich, to deploy GreenRoad across its entire fleet, aiming to reduce insurance premiums by improving driver behavior and reducing overall risk exposure.
The Solution
Iron Mountain selected GreenRoad's fleet performance management solution to enhance their fleet operations. The solution was deployed across all vehicles, providing full fleet visibility and enabling drivers to receive real-time alerts when they deviated from safe driving practices. This 'vocal coach' system encouraged drivers to take charge of their improvement and take pride in their achievements. The solution also included GreenRoad’s Idling Performance Management feature, which identifies specific drivers, vehicles, or trips that negatively impact fuel performance. This feature was implemented in 430 Iron Mountain HGVs and LCVs across 30 depots in the UK and Ireland. Additionally, Iron Mountain deployed GreenRoad’s optional Posted Speed Performance feature to monitor speed violations.
