About The Customer
IsCool Entertainment is a European leader in social gaming, bringing together 2.8 million users on Facebook and other media with interactive games like IsCool, Stars Connect, and Temple Of Mahjong. The company was founded in 2001 and is headquartered in Paris, France. The company has a strong focus on Business Intelligence (BI) and uses a rigorous approach to analysing customer profiles, user adoption, and gaming use. The company has grown significantly over the years, with 18 million user-generated actions occurring every day and revenues four times higher than in 2009.
The Challenge
IsCool Entertainment, a leading European social gaming provider, was facing challenges in understanding gamers’ preferences, behaviour, and needs. The company was using open source integration tools and commercial BI visualization software for decision-making. However, with the increase in user-generated actions and revenues, the company needed a more agile big data analytics solution. The company also needed a flexible approach to data visualization and presentation. The existing QlikView tool was not efficient as it required scripting for every report, causing delays in findings.
The Solution
IsCool Entertainment decided to standardize on a Tableau real-time visualization analytics solution. This solution allowed IsCool to report immediately on various aspects of its games such as the number of users, which features are most commonly used, how long people play for, which downloads are most popular, and more. The team could also examine the correlation between the size of a gaming community and their level of engagement. This helped them to engage that community more effectively, nurture it, and grow it to critical mass. Additionally, IsCool executives receive a daily report on crucial sales intelligence, including the previous day’s revenues by item category, the number of concurrent users during the day, and the number of active players. Another crucial component in this success has been the innovative Actian Vectorwise analytic database. This replaced an open source platform and provided IsCool with fast and cost-effective database and BI performance.

Improving Vending Machine Profitability with the Internet of Things (IoT)
The vending industry is undergoing a sea change, taking advantage of new technologies to go beyond just delivering snacks to creating a new retail location. Intelligent vending machines can be found in many public locations as well as company facilities, selling different types of goods and services, including even computer accessories, gold bars, tickets, and office supplies. With increasing sophistication, they may also provide time- and location-based data pertaining to sales, inventory, and customer preferences. But at the end of the day, vending machine operators know greater profitability is driven by higher sales and lower operating costs.

Revolutionizing Rodent Control
From pet- and child-safe traps, to touch-free and live-catch rodent control solutions, Victor continues to stay committed to producing superior products that meet the varying needs of today’s pest control professionals. And, with a long standing history supporting customers in the food processing, service, and retail settings, Victor knew that strict regulations were costing organizations thousands of dollars in excess overhead trying to manage their rodent-control solutions. Trap inspections in these environments are often difficult and time consuming, requiring personnel to manually check a trap’s status multiple times per day, amounting to over six hours of manual labor. Victor is looking for an innovative way to increase operational efficiencies with the use of technology.
