About The Customer
Netskope is a leading cloud access security broker that provides IT with the ability to find, understand, and secure both sanctioned and unsanctioned cloud applications. The company helps some of the biggest brands in business today to confront IT challenges, particularly the management of cloud applications that are accessed via unmanaged devices. Netskope's platform allows customers to discover applications, whether sanctioned or unsanctioned, and enact policies to manage them. This service is crucial for protecting sensitive data and ensuring compliance while enabling end users to employ applications that contribute to their companies' success. Netskope's average customer uses around 900 applications, with larger customers using several thousand, highlighting the scale and importance of their service.
The Challenge
Netskope's business model requires agility, availability, and performance to manage both sanctioned and unsanctioned cloud applications. With 50% of data residing in cloud applications outside traditional networks, Netskope needed a solution to discover and govern these applications effectively. The challenge was to ensure reliability, security, and performance of the platform to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance while allowing end users to utilize beneficial applications.
The Solution
Netskope implemented Infoblox Grid™ and DDI to manage their critical DNS protocol, which is essential for user and application connectivity. The Infoblox solution provides centralized management for core network services across globally distributed data centers. The Grid Master allows for easy updates and changes across the network, ensuring consistent information and detailed visibility into network data. The cluster-like architecture of the Infoblox Grid fits well with Netskope's needs, providing rock-solid support for their mission to direct the usage of cloud applications, protect sensitive data, and ensure compliance. Infoblox's Anycast capabilities and dual redundancy allow Netskope to route users to the nearest data center, increasing performance and ensuring reliability even if a data center goes down. The automation provided by Infoblox enables Netskope to monitor user workload and customer load, adding capacity as needed to meet demand.

Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
