About The Customer
NTT DATA is a leading global business and IT services provider, operating in over 50 countries with a workforce of 140,000 employees. As part of the NTT Corporation, which has a rich history of technological excellence spanning nearly 120 years, NTT DATA has established itself as a key player in delivering infrastructure, applications, and business process services. The company's growth has been significantly driven by its merger and acquisition strategy over the past 15 years, allowing it to introduce new and influential products to the market. NTT DATA's commitment to innovation and digital transformation is evident in its efforts to reduce complexity and unify its operations under the 'One NTT' initiative. This initiative aims to create a global support structure that enhances service delivery and efficiency for its clients. Trust and data protection are central to NTT DATA's client relationships, as the company assists clients in transitioning to the cloud and navigating the mobile ecosystem.
The Challenge
NTT DATA faced significant challenges in managing identity and authentication across its global operations. With 300,000 employees in 90 countries, the company struggled with name conflicts and complex onboarding, role changes, and offboarding processes. The existing technology solutions were inadequate, causing user experience issues and delays in communication with downstream applications. The disjointed authentication process required users to open tickets or call the service desk, leading to long wait times for issue resolution. Additionally, with 60% of staff working off-site, the need for a more effective, automated risk control system became apparent.
The Solution
NTT DATA partnered with Okta to implement a comprehensive identity and access management (IAM) solution. The company selected Okta's Workforce Identity Products, including Single Sign-On, Adaptive MFA, Universal Directory, and Advanced Lifecycle Management, to streamline user experience and enhance security. The deployment began with Single Sign-On to prioritize seamless access for stakeholders, enabling them to perform their tasks efficiently. The rollout was completed in just two months, integrating nine critical applications smoothly. Okta Verify, a component of Adaptive MFA, was introduced to provide advanced authentication, requiring some change management to inform stakeholders of the new user experience. The implementation of Okta Workflows further automated identity management processes, integrating with Office 365 to simplify identity creation and eliminate manual errors. The hub and spoke model ensured unique identities for all employees, addressing conflicts and enhancing compliance. Okta's integration capabilities with other security solutions like CrowdStrike, Proofpoint, and Tanium added value by enabling comprehensive risk assessment and mitigation.

SET Creative Ditches Google Vault for Datto Backupify
When Kienholz first started at SET, the staff was using Microsoft Outlook for email with no form of data backup. It became apparent that something needed to change as the staff was often burdened with trying to recover emails from departed employees. Kienholz transitioned the team to Google’s Gmail and implemented Google Vault for backup purposes. While SET employees quickly adjusted to Gmail, which many use for personal email, the same could not be said for Google Vault. “Unlike most Google products, Vault was not user friendly at all. It’s very hard to search for items. We never really figured out how to do a restore either,” explained Kienholz. Due to SET’s work with high-profile brands, projects often go through many rounds of revisions right down to the eleventh hour. This means that every bit of information - especially data living in project managers’ emails - is crucial to delivering clients a polished design at deadline.

Sawback IT and Datto Save Client From a Costly Mistake
Ballistic Echo, a software development house, faced a critical challenge when human error led to the deletion of thousands of lines of unique code. This incident occurred before the code was pushed to source control, resulting in significant loss of time, revenue, and work. The previous file-level backup solution they used was slow and inefficient, making it nearly impossible to manually recreate the lost work. The need for a more reliable and efficient business continuity solution became evident to avoid such disasters in the future.

Pipeline Insight Case Study: YARCDATA
YarcData faced challenges in determining the conversion rates of prospects into customers through various marketing efforts and identifying the source of its leads. They wanted to know the percentage of opportunities in the sales pipeline that came from different marketing events, web downloads, or self-sourced sales opportunities. Additionally, they needed the ability to drill down into the data to guide where to allocate more marketing dollars based on the success of previous efforts. Previously, YarcData relied heavily on spreadsheets and Salesforce.com reports, which made it difficult to extract the exact information they needed. This reliance on spreadsheets represented about 70% of their data presentation.
