The Challenge
HealthSnap, a provider of a remote health services platform, was facing challenges in automating data security in the context of HITRUST. The company needed a constant pulse on its infrastructure and the data therein, including both asset inventories and infrastructure diagrams. This required regular, manual work to prove to regulators, partners, and patients that they knew what data they had, where it was, and that it was protected. The company also needed to put proper security controls in place and show how they were enforcing them. The speed of change for both the cloud infrastructure and the data was fast, making it difficult to satisfy these requirements. The company was also concerned about overworking its team and was looking for ways to quickly and effectively scale their throughput with automation.
The Solution
HealthSnap implemented Open Raven's automated discovery, mapping, data classification, and data policy monitoring. Open Raven provided an up-to-date 3D map of all of HealthSnap's assets in the cloud, allowing them to see all the different regions where they had assets and easily explore for more detail. Open Raven also provided automated data policy monitoring, alerting HealthSnap about resources not encrypted at rest and other security issues. The built-in policies meant that HealthSnap had to spend very little time creating or modifying their own. When they received alerts, the information they got made the work of assessing and prioritizing each alert for action very fast.

Hospital Inventory Management
The hospital supply chain team is responsible for ensuring that the right medical supplies are readily available to clinicians when and where needed, and to do so in the most efficient manner possible. However, many of the systems and processes in use at the cancer center for supply chain management were not best suited to support these goals. Barcoding technology, a commonly used method for inventory management of medical supplies, is labor intensive, time consuming, does not provide real-time visibility into inventory levels and can be prone to error. Storage of supplies was also a key consideration given the location of the cancer center’s facilities in a dense urban setting, where space is always at a premium. In order to address the challenges outlined above, the hospital sought a solution that would provide real-time inventory information with high levels of accuracy, reduce the level of manual effort required and enable data driven decision making to ensure that the right supplies were readily available to clinicians in the right location at the right time.
