About The Customer
Organic By Nature is a manufacturer of premium whole food supplements made from dehydrated fruits and vegetables. Founded in 1993, the company has set a new standard in plant-based nutritional products by rejecting the trend toward mega-dosages of vitamins and minerals. Organic By Nature sells its nutritious supplements directly to consumers and through a network of nearly 1000 independent retail outlets, including national chains like Whole Foods and Wild Oats. The company was looking to consolidate its operations into a single building, which presented a challenge in terms of relocating their legacy PBX phone system.
The Challenge
Organic By Nature, a premium whole food supplement manufacturer, faced a significant challenge when they decided to consolidate their operations into a single building. The main issue was the relocation of their legacy PBX phone system, which was housed in the main building they were vacating. The new building lacked the necessary infrastructure to support the heavy hardware of the PBX system. Tom Merz, the director of IT and facilities, found that not only would the hardware be difficult to physically move, but the new building did not have enough copper lines to support the system. The estimated cost of reinstalling the old PBX in the new building was between $60,000 to $80,000. Additionally, the old PBX system was limited in functionality and required a specialized technician for routine tasks such as creating an extension for a new employee, which was both time-consuming and expensive.
The Solution
The high costs and complexity of the old PBX system led Merz to explore RingCentral’s cloud-based business phone system. He was looking for a solution that didn’t require a large upfront investment and eliminated the need for a technician for routine tasks. He also wanted a system that allowed employees to manage their own phone settings, such as changing their last name in the settings when they got married. After evaluating several other cloud PBX providers, Merz decided that RingCentral best met his needs. He set up 25 users in the main building with four to five remote users. The new system allowed employees to set up their own phone system and easily move their phone when they changed desks, significantly reducing the time and effort required for phone system management.

Intelligent Building Automation System and Energy Saving Solution
One of the most difficult problems facing the world is conserving energy in buildings. However, it is not easy to have a cost-effective solution to reduce energy usage in a building. One solution for saving energy is to implement an intelligent building automation system (BAS) which can be controlled according to its schedule. In Indonesia a large university with a five floor building and 22 classrooms wanted to save the amount of energy being used.
