About The Customer
Precision Global Systems (PGS) is a specialized manufacturing services provider based in Troy, Michigan. The company is known for its expertise in Crisis Manufacturing Management™, machining and assembly, and component recertification. PGS operates three divisions that focus on recertifying parts and addressing engineering, manufacturing, and raw material issues. The company has a reputation for saving a significant percentage of parts that would otherwise be scrapped, providing substantial financial benefits to its customers. PGS serves hundreds of automotive customers and handles thousands of parts, making traceability and inventory management crucial aspects of its operations.
The Challenge
PGS faced challenges in managing documentation, inventory, and traceability as it expanded its operations. The company struggled with inefficiencies in quoting, sales, purchasing, and accounting, which are common issues for growing companies. Additionally, PGS had difficulties controlling Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs) as they were managed by an external company. The need for precise documentation and tracking of over 800 unique part numbers was critical, and the company sought a solution to streamline these processes.
The Solution
PGS implemented the Plex Manufacturing Cloud to address its operational challenges. The system provided a comprehensive solution for quality management, inventory control, quoting, sales, purchasing, and finance. By adopting Plex's Document Control function, PGS was able to efficiently manage the extensive documentation required for each customer. The implementation of Plex Cloud ERP allowed PGS to bring inventory, traceability, and shipping processes under control. The system enabled PGS to determine its own schedule for fixing and shipping recertified parts, improving operational efficiency. The Plex auditing function also facilitated a smooth ISO certification process, demonstrating the system's effectiveness in managing quality standards.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).

Monitoring of Pressure Pumps in Automotive Industry
A large German/American producer of auto parts uses high-pressure pumps to deburr machined parts as a part of its production and quality check process. They decided to monitor these pumps to make sure they work properly and that they can see any indications leading to a potential failure before it affects their process.
