SCI’s client, a major electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, required a solution to efficiently drill holes and mill slots into an interior component for a new product launch. SCI developed a precision milling and drilling application equipped with a Vention fixture. This custom-built application supports the loads of all devices, including air-driven drills, mills, and pneumatic slide units. The modular design allows for easy modifications or expansions for future applications. The solution includes servo-driven drill and tap slide units for precision depth and repeatability, spring-loaded pressure pads for secure part holding, and safety light curtains for operator safety. The machine's adjustable XYZ axis and interchangeable modular parts provide flexibility for high-mix products, making integration and deployment with automation components seamless.
