Technomic is a leading information services company that provides data-driven insights, critical research, and strategic consulting to foodservice clients. The company has 55 years of leadership and experience in the foodservice industry and serves a diverse set of suppliers and restaurant operators across every food and beverage channel. Founded in 1966, Technomic is headquartered in Chicago, IL. Their customers rely on the company’s subject matter expertise, research, and strategic guidance to stay ahead of the curve. Technomic realized they could deliver an additional edge by layering on powerful consumer data insights.
The Challenge
Technomic, a leading information services company in the foodservice industry, wanted to provide its customers with powerful consumer data insights. They aimed to build a customizable analytics dashboard that could be used by both product and technical teams. The company launched their comprehensive consumer data product in 2009 and an enhanced version called Ignite Consumer in 2009. Ignite provides reports and data to Technomic’s foodservice customers via an interactive online dashboard. The challenge was to find a platform that had all the features they needed or build a custom one. The platform needed to allow customers to create their own custom dashboards and be easy to use.
The Solution
Technomic decided to partner with GoodData to build their Ignite offering. GoodData’s business intelligence platform and custom development were used to deliver key insights such as menu trend data, location data at market level, and consumer brand tracking. The Ignite Consumer product tracks more than 60 different consumer attributes and behaviors to provide accurate, up-to-date benchmarking of guest satisfaction, restaurant operator performance, and more. Technomic’s customers can tap into the product to make better, more informed decisions about their brand strategy. The GoodData-powered analytics allow restaurant operators to better understand their brand performance over time as well as compared to competitors.

HEINEKEN Uses the Cloud to Reach 10.5 Million Consumers
For 2012 campaign, the Bond promotion, it planned to launch the campaign at the same time everywhere on the planet. That created unprecedented challenges for HEINEKEN—nowhere more so than in its technology operation. The primary digital content for the campaign was a 100-megabyte movie that had to play flawlessly for millions of viewers worldwide. After all, Bond never fails. No one was going to tolerate a technology failure that might bruise his brand.Previously, HEINEKEN had supported digital media at its outsourced datacenter. But that datacenter lacked the computing resources HEINEKEN needed, and building them—especially to support peak traffic that would total millions of simultaneous hits—would have been both time-consuming and expensive. Nor would it have provided the geographic reach that HEINEKEN needed to minimize latency worldwide.
