About The Customer
The customer is one of the largest food and beverage companies in the world, boasting over 2,000 brands that range from globally recognized icons to local favorites. The company's integrated business planning processes were previously highly manual and focused on past data, which resulted in a lack of responsiveness to market changes and an inability to provide optimal solutions. The company was also unable to quickly detect gaps in planning and other risks and opportunities due to their focus on sell-in, a lagging indicator.
The Challenge
The company, one of the largest food and beverage companies in the world, was facing significant challenges with its integrated business planning processes. These processes were highly manual and focused on past data, which hindered the company's ability to quickly identify demand risks and opportunities. This resulted in a lack of responsiveness to market changes and an inability to provide optimal solutions. The company was also unable to detect gaps in planning and other risks and opportunities quickly enough due to their focus on sell-in, a lagging indicator. Furthermore, all commercial and supply chain scenarios were run in Excel, based on inaccurate datasets and incomplete information, leading to suboptimal decision-making. Lastly, IBP meetings were run in PowerPoint and Excel, focused on numbers and assumptions rather than on key market decisions.
The Solution
The company partnered with o9 to address these challenges. o9's highly differentiated platform allowed the company to understand the drivers of demand and bring those together for faster gap detection and response. The platform also enabled cross-functional teams to generate commercial scenarios and get a supply chain response on OTIF, cost to serve and contribution margin in real-time. During IBP meetings, market leaders were able to use the platform to evaluate scenarios, understand risks and opportunities, and make better and faster decisions. The o9 Enterprise Knowledge Graph was used to build market, demand, and supply-knowledge models, allowing the company to run the entire IBP process for all categories, brands, channels, accounts, and countries in a single integrated platform. This solution replaced the company's previous systems, including SAP APO, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Airport SCADA Systems Improve Service Levels
Modern airports are one of the busiest environments on Earth and rely on process automation equipment to ensure service operators achieve their KPIs. Increasingly airport SCADA systems are being used to control all aspects of the operation and associated facilities. This is because unplanned system downtime can cost dearly, both in terms of reduced revenues and the associated loss of customer satisfaction due to inevitable travel inconvenience and disruption.

HEINEKEN Uses the Cloud to Reach 10.5 Million Consumers
For 2012 campaign, the Bond promotion, it planned to launch the campaign at the same time everywhere on the planet. That created unprecedented challenges for HEINEKEN—nowhere more so than in its technology operation. The primary digital content for the campaign was a 100-megabyte movie that had to play flawlessly for millions of viewers worldwide. After all, Bond never fails. No one was going to tolerate a technology failure that might bruise his brand.Previously, HEINEKEN had supported digital media at its outsourced datacenter. But that datacenter lacked the computing resources HEINEKEN needed, and building them—especially to support peak traffic that would total millions of simultaneous hits—would have been both time-consuming and expensive. Nor would it have provided the geographic reach that HEINEKEN needed to minimize latency worldwide.
