About The Customer
Established in 1999, Directors Cut is one of London’s premier long-form post-production houses. Located in the heart of the bustling West End, it serves all the UK’s leading broadcasters—BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky—as well as major independent production companies. With a passion for embracing innovative technology to improve its client offering, Directors Cut’s management team is always looking for ways to invest in the latest solutions to overhaul its production workflow and streamline its operations. The company is known for its commitment to transforming its workflow capabilities, boosting productivity, and better meeting the needs of its clients.
The Challenge
Directors Cut, a premier long-form post-production house in London, was faced with the challenge of providing its clients with new and remote working capabilities to meet their evolving needs and increase the facility’s revenue potential. The company needed to improve access to its catalog of assets for staff and clients working both on-premise and remotely. They were also looking to repurpose and monetize content more effectively. The management team was keen on embracing innovative technology to improve its client offering and streamline its operations. However, the remote viewing tools they had seen were not advanced enough to integrate into their Avid workflow.
The Solution
Directors Cut decided to invest in the latest Avid solutions to overhaul its production workflow. They adopted the fully integrated Avid MediaCentral platform to boost productivity, improve content access, repurposing and monetization, and enhance clients’ review and approval experience. The Interplay | Production facility package, powered by the Avid MediaCentral platform, was chosen to deliver on their commercial and operational objectives. The Avid MediaCentral | UX, the cloud-based, web front-end of the Avid MediaCentral Platform, provided remote working possibilities. The installation took place over a weekend and the storage upgrades were completed in a day. The production management and storage workflows were easily integrated into Directors Cut’s IT infrastructure. Avid also provided Directors Cut with two days of training to learn how to gain maximum advantage of their new asset management system.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
