About The Customer
The customer in this case is the film production team of the movie Everest, directed by Baltasar Kormákur. The team includes BAFTA award-winning editor Mick Audsley and Academy Award-winning sound designer and supervising sound editor, Glenn Freemantle. The film features an all-star cast, including Emily Watson, Keira Knightley, Josh Brolin and John Hawkes. Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) tackles the role of the infamous expedition leader, Rob Hall, while Oscar-nominated Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Jarhead, Brokeback Mountain) plays rival mountaineer and expedition leader, Scott Fischer. The film is based on the catastrophic events of the 1996 mountain disaster, following two doomed expeditions to the summit of the world’s highest mountain.
The Challenge
The challenge was to bring to life the complex, intertwined personal stories behind the fast-paced, emotionally charged film Everest, while dealing with huge volumes of footage and recreating the sounds of one of the world’s most hostile environments. The film depicts the catastrophic events of the 1996 mountain disaster, following two doomed expeditions to the summit of the world’s highest mountain. The climbers face near-impossible obstacles to survive, trapped in the ‘Death Zone’ of Everest—25,000 feet up in the highest altitudes of the mountain—by one of the most ferocious snowstorms ever known to man. The film features an all-star cast, including Emily Watson, Keira Knightley, Josh Brolin and John Hawkes. Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) tackles the role of the infamous expedition leader, Rob Hall, while Oscar-nominated Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Jarhead, Brokeback Mountain) plays rival mountaineer and expedition leader, Scott Fischer.
The Solution
BAFTA award-winning editor Mick Audsley and Academy Award-winning sound designer and supervising sound editor, Glenn Freemantle, embraced Avid Everywhere, implementing a collaborative workflow powered by the Avid MediaCentral platform to craft one of 2015’s most anticipated movies. Audsley and Freemantle relied on the Avid Artist Suite and Storage Suite solutions powered by the Avid MediaCentral Platform. Audsley’s decision to cut Everest on the industry’s preeminent editing solution, Avid Media Composer, was unquestionable. Avid ISIS shared storage facilitated real-time collaboration between the editorial team. Sound designer and supervising sound editor Glenn Freemantle and his team faced a wide range of challenges to perfect the sounds of Everest. Working with the industry-standard audio production solution, Avid Pro Tools, combined with an Avid Avid S6 control surface, they established the perfect workflow to conquer the sound of Everest.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
