The Challenge
Fifteen years ago, Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts was a small program catering to an enrollment of 200 students. The school aimed to prepare students for successful careers in film, television, broadcast journalism, digital arts, and more. However, as the school grew rapidly to accommodate over 1,400 students, it faced the challenge of providing in-depth professional training that mirrored the workflows used in professional media facilities worldwide. The school needed to create a cutting-edge learning environment featuring industry-standard technology workflows to ensure its graduates entered the workforce with real-world experience.
The Solution
To address this challenge, Dodge College partnered with Avid to train students on a wide range of cutting-edge solutions. The school built Marion Knott Studios, a fully functional 76,000-square-foot production facility equipped with professional sound stages, state-of-the-art cameras, and computer labs featuring industry-standard Media Composer, and Pro Tools software. The studio was made available 24/7 to students, providing them with hands-on experience with leading-edge tools. Additionally, Dodge College used Avid ISIS with Interplay to manage student projects and facilitate collaboration, preparing students for professional workflows. The school also became a certified Avid Learning Partner, offering students certification courses in Media Composer and Pro Tools.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
