Hoskins Equipment is a leading company in the high-reach equipment rentals industry. They operate a large fleet of over 30 vehicles and manage more than 1,400 pieces of equipment. The company serves over 2,500 customers across multiple sites. Hoskins Equipment is committed to maintaining a high standard of operational excellence and is constantly seeking ways to operate more efficiently and effectively. They strive to leverage technology to improve their operations, and have recently adopted a unified approach to managing their drivers, assets, and facilities.
The Challenge
Hoskins Equipment, a leader in high-reach equipment rentals, was facing a challenge in maintaining their standard of operational excellence across their 1,400 pieces of equipment, 30 vehicles, and multiple sites. The company lacked clear visibility into their physical operations and needed a way to operate more efficiently. They were seeking a solution that would enable them to stretch their resources further and work better and faster. The company saw an opportunity to digitize their processes and take a unified approach to their operations across their drivers, assets, and facilities. They were in search of an integrated solution that could consolidate these solutions within a single platform, thereby maximizing efficiency and centralizing their operations.
The Solution
Hoskins Equipment adopted the Samsara Connected Operations Cloud, a centralized platform that unified their operations. By centralizing data and workstreams across driver safety, asset management, and consolidated video, Hoskins was able to transform their operations, decreasing incidents, reducing costs, and improving back-office efficiency. The company was able to leverage their existing onsite camera infrastructure and consolidate visibility using Samsara’s integrated platform approach. This allowed them to access their vehicle camera streams, camera footage, and asset locations all within a single dashboard. Additionally, Samsara’s Intelligent Search and AI features were used to reduce the time it takes to review footage from a few hours/days to a few minutes per request. Samsara AI Dash Cams were also used to increase visibility across their fleet, improve driver coaching, and decrease incidents.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
