About The Customer
Inventive Automation is a company that specializes in modular automated systems, focusing on making automation accessible to small and medium-sized manufacturers. Their expertise lies in deploying plug-and-play application modules that are available off the shelf, allowing for easy integration into existing manufacturing processes. The company aims to provide solutions that are reconfigurable and fit into spaces similar to current manual applications, enabling faster implementation at a lower cost. Inventive Automation's mission is to simplify the adoption of automation technologies for SMEs, helping them overcome the challenges of integrating automation into their operations.
The Challenge
Inventive Automation faced the challenge of creating a highly flexible and modular automation system that could be reconfigured in as little as 15 minutes. The system needed to be compact, transportable, easy to program, and adaptable to various applications and environments. The goal was to make automation accessible to small and medium-sized manufacturers by providing a solution that could integrate seamlessly into existing processes and offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional automated systems.
The Solution
The solution developed by Inventive Automation is the Modular Cobotics Recirculator, a modular, mobile, and fully customizable assembly line. This system combines a UR5e robot mounted on a 7th axis range extender, a multi-station recirculating pallet conveyor system, and docking application modules. The system is designed to be reconfigurable, allowing for complete line changes by altering the location and orientation of the docking carts while keeping the central unit intact. The use of Vention's belt actuator and ball screws facilitates the creation of the recirculating pallet system, and the entire assembly line is controlled through the UR teach pendant using URCaps. This approach eliminates the need for traditional PLCs and additional programming, making the system more accessible and cost-effective for SMEs.

Smart Water Filtration Systems
Before working with Ayla Networks, Ozner was already using cloud connectivity to identify and solve water-filtration system malfunctions as well as to monitor filter cartridges for replacements. But, in June 2015, Ozner executives talked with Ayla about how the company might further improve its water systems with IoT technology. They liked what they heard from Ayla, but the executives needed to be sure that Ayla’s Agile IoT Platform provided the security and reliability Ozner required.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
