The Challenge
Middlesbrough College, located in England’s Tees Valley, was faced with the challenge of providing its music technology students with a solid foundation in the hardware and software used by audio professionals. The goal was to equip these students with the necessary skills to thrive in a highly competitive and demanding industry. The college needed to ensure that its students were not only familiar with the tools used in the industry but also proficient in their use. This required the college to have access to industry-standard tools and the ability to effectively teach students how to use them.
The Solution
To address this challenge, Middlesbrough College leveraged the Avid Learning Program to introduce new elements of the Avid MediaCentral Platform. This included the flexible and versatile Avid S6 control surface and the latest version of the industry-leading Pro Tools | HD software. The college invested in two Avid Pro Tools | S6 control surfaces, which are trusted by top audio professionals in the most demanding production and studio environments. The S6 offers superior ergonomics and intelligent control, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with professional-grade equipment. The college also utilized Pro Tools | HD 12 across its three “Music Laboratories” and five control rooms, providing students with extensive access to comprehensive tools and workflow solutions.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
