The Challenge
The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) hosts the Savannah Film Festival annually, a week-long celebration of cinematic creativity that showcases both award-winning and emerging student filmmakers. Over the years, the festival has grown from a student showcase to include high-profile, international entries. The challenge was to manage the largest university-run film festival in the country, which includes competition film showings, special screenings, workshops, and honoring cinematic luminaries. The festival also features important educational components that benefit both SCAD students and the public. The challenge was to ensure the smooth running of the festival, provide a platform for students to learn from industry professionals, and maintain the high standard of the festival.
The Solution
To address the challenge, SCAD relied on Media Composer, Avid S6, and Pro Tools | HDX. These tools were used to manage the festival and provide a platform for students to learn from industry professionals. Avid, a technology company specializing in video and audio production technology, brought in video and audio professionals actively working in the industry to share insights, professional tips, and career experiences with students and festival-goers. SCAD is a valued member of the Avid Learning Partner (ALP) program, which enables students to receive additional training on Avid tools and earn official certification in addition to their degrees. The festival provided a unique opportunity for students to engage with mentors and creative artists working in the industry, learn from them, and interact with them on a professional level.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
