The Challenge
Harley Zinker, a seasoned live show mixer with over 20 years of experience, was tasked with delivering high-quality mixes for a range of international artists, including Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Young the Giant, The Strokes, The Killers, and more. The challenge was to consistently deliver uncompromising mixes night after night, while also ensuring the sound quality was pristine and the processing powerful. Zinker had been using digital consoles for a long time, but he was looking for a solution that could replicate the sound quality and functionality of his outboard gear, while also offering more advanced features and capabilities.
The Solution
Zinker chose the Avid VENUE | S6L for its powerful processing, integrated plugins, and pristine sound quality. The S6L appealed to him due to its 96kHz sample rate, which made a significant difference in sound quality, especially when driving PAs via AES. The console also allowed him to push everything to groups and then push groups to left and right, maintaining separation and focus in the sound. The new preamp offered an air and top end that he hadn't heard on the Profile, and the EQ was substantially more responsive. The S6L also offered customizable user layouts and more processing power and aux's, which made his workflow easier. He used a range of plugins on the S6L, including AAX and Waves, and also used Pro Tools to track every show and work on things in his downtime.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
