About The Customer
Vermessung AVT is a private surveying company headquartered in the Austrian Alps, Imst. The company's principal activities encompass all aspects of surveying, including cadastral and technical surveys, engineering geodesy airborne photogrammetry, laser scanning, data capture, and GIS data processing. AVT has an in-house built software, Geosi, that runs on BricsCAD as an extension. The company aims to deliver high-quality products at a competitive price level to their domestic and international clients. AVT has over 80 seats of BricsCAD Pro perpetual licenses. AVT also has a subsidiary, IDC EDV GmbH, that developed the software suite Geosi for all sorts of surveying tasks.
The Challenge
Vermessung AVT, a private surveying company based in Austria, was facing a challenge with its dependency on Autodesk® products for its surveying tasks. The company's in-house software, Geosi, which runs as an extension on BricsCAD, was being hindered due to the dependency on AutoCAD®. This led to a stagnation of Geosi sales, affecting the company's overall performance. The company's goal was to deliver high-quality products at a competitive price level to their domestic and international clients, but the licensing model of Autodesk® products, which offered subscriptions instead of permanent licenses, was a major obstacle. AVT's subsidiary, IDC EDV GmbH, had developed the software suite Geosi for all sorts of surveying tasks, and the dependency on AutoCAD® was affecting its functionality and market position.
The Solution
To overcome the challenge, AVT decided to switch over to BricsCAD and use it as the new environment for GeosiPlan, a module of Geosi that is a tailored tool for generating survey plans. The decision was influenced by the versatile functionality, attractive price, and licensing model of BricsCAD. With BricsCAD as the new environment of GeosiPlan, AVT was able to improve the functionality of their own software significantly and develop a much stronger market position. IDC EDV GmbH, in the meantime, became the main sales partner of Bricsys for Austria. The company was able to win a great number of clients for BricsCAD, where only a relatively small share is from surveying. The integration with BricsCAD allowed AVT to improve productivity with their Geosi modules to an unprecedented level.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
