About The Customer
Gusto is a company that provides a cloud-based payroll, benefits, and HR management software solution. Their mission is “to create a world where work empowers a better life.” While their core product offering is payroll processing, they also offer a range of other products that cover medical insurance enrollment and administration, commuter benefits, 401k contributions, workers’ compensation insurance, and more. They serve over 200,000 small and medium-sized businesses. The company has over 1800 employees and operates in San Francisco, Denver, New York, Canada, and remotely.
The Challenge
Gusto, a cloud-based payroll, benefits, and HR management software solution, was facing several challenges in its hiring process. The company's Invite Team was seeking better visibility into metrics to understand the success of their outreach campaigns and become more familiar with prospects’ interests and investments. They also wanted to improve their diversity efforts at the top of the funnel and needed a database of qualified talent to avoid starting each new search from scratch. Additionally, they wanted to forecast how a new job requirement would act based on previous open roles, to be more thoughtful and intentional about every new search. These challenges were amplified when the company’s customer base grew 2x during COVID, necessitating the need for more talent to support the increased customer base.
The Solution
Gusto's Invite Team turned to Gem, a platform that allowed them to A/B test messaging, uncover best outreach practices to improve response rates, and discover what motivates and inspires prospective candidates. Gem provided visibility into full-funnel demographics to uncover bottlenecks within the pipeline that the team could work to mitigate, enhancing the entire candidate experience. The team used Gem's Candidate Rediscovery feature to unearth talent in their CRM who was vetted and diverse, ultimately reducing time-to-hire. Using Gem’s passthrough rates and forecasting data, the Invite Team was able to forge an even stronger strategic partnership with its hiring managers. Gem's analytics gave Gusto greater visibility into funnel representation, allowing the team to identify underrepresented groups at particular stages. The team also used Gem for top-of-funnel activities when sourcing, and full-cycle recruiters used it to stay on top of active candidates in their pipelines.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
