Statistics Finland, the national statistics office for the government of Finland, is responsible for producing publicly available statistics on various aspects of the country, including its economic status, public health, and the environment. The organization employs 800 people and generates nearly 160 different sets of statistics derived from existing registers and new surveys. The National Accounts team within Statistics Finland is tasked with producing statistics that describe Finland’s national economy systematically and according to international recommendations. This team collects, combines, and analyzes a vast amount of data to report crucial facts about the Finnish economy. The challenge faced by the National Accounts team was the need for a BI solution that could help identify anomalies in the data, which might indicate flaws in coding that could be corrected. An international tender was conducted to find a suitable solution, and the Pyramid Platform, specifically the BI Office, was selected due to its functionality, usability, and cost-effectiveness. The investment proved successful, leading to continued use of Pyramid through version updates and new product iterations.
