Adobe Systems faced significant challenges in managing its DNS, DHCP, and IP address infrastructure, which was crucial for maintaining the availability of its business-critical Internet domains. The legacy system in place was inconsistent and prone to outages, causing disruptions that could last up to 24 hours. These outages not only affected Adobe's reputation but also posed a risk to its operational success. The technical lead for DNS, DHCP, and IP address management, Brent Hetherwick, was frequently called to address these issues, highlighting the need for a more reliable and secure solution.

To address the challenges posed by the legacy system, Adobe Systems implemented the Infoblox DDI solution, which features a patented Infoblox Grid architecture. This new infrastructure provided a more reliable platform with central management, a shared data repository, and integrated software for DNS, DHCP, and IP address management. Infoblox Network Insight and Infoblox Reporting and Analytics were also utilized to aggregate network infrastructure data and support internal marketing campaigns. Additionally, Adobe employed Infoblox DNS Firewall in logging-only mode to detect and block malware communications, enhancing the company's overall security posture. Infoblox's security-hardened appliances with Advanced DNS Protection further bolstered Adobe's defenses against DNS-based attacks.
