Bladex faced significant challenges in complying with numerous privacy and security regulatory requirements while dealing with increasingly advanced cyber threats, particularly ransomware. The global pandemic further complicated matters by forcing employees to work remotely, which necessitated securing remote work environments. Additionally, the bank struggled with managing, maintaining, and updating its cybersecurity infrastructure, which was cumbersome and required significant resources. The existing on-premises solution was complex, requiring multiple servers and consoles, and demanded frequent updates and internal projects to keep up with evolving threats.

Bladex implemented the CrowdStrike Falcon Platform to address its cybersecurity challenges. This cloud-native solution replaced multiple legacy products, simplifying security management and reducing infrastructure costs. The Falcon Platform includes advanced threat protection modules such as Falcon Insight for endpoint detection and response, Falcon Prevent for next-gen antivirus, Falcon Intelligence for threat intelligence, and Falcon OverWatch for threat hunting. The platform's cloud-based architecture allows for centralized management, reducing the need for multiple servers and consoles. Bladex deployed the solution across 350 laptops and servers, as well as 100 mobile devices, enhancing endpoint protection and compliance capabilities. The Falcon Platform's intuitive interface and comprehensive features have made it easier for Bladex to manage its cybersecurity infrastructure, allowing the bank to focus on other business priorities.

Smooth Transition to Energy Savings
The building was equipped with four end-of-life Trane water cooled chillers, located in the basement. Johnson Controls installed four York water cooled centrifugal chillers with unit mounted variable speed drives and a total installed cooling capacity of 6,8 MW. Each chiller has a capacity of 1,6 MW (variable to 1.9MW depending upon condenser water temperatures). Johnson Controls needed to design the equipment in such way that it would fit the dimensional constraints of the existing plant area and plant access route but also the specific performance requirements of the client. Morgan Stanley required the chiller plant to match the building load profile, turn down to match the low load requirement when needed and provide an improvement in the Energy Efficiency Ratio across the entire operating range. Other requirements were a reduction in the chiller noise level to improve the working environment in the plant room and a wide operating envelope coupled with intelligent controls to allow possible variation in both flow rate and temperature. The latter was needed to leverage increased capacity from a reduced number of machines during the different installation phases and allow future enhancement to a variable primary flow system.
