关于客户
Doncasters Group is a global leader in integrated precision engineering, founded in 1778. The company operates from multiple sites across the UK, Continental Europe, USA, China, and Mexico, employing around 5,000 staff worldwide. They serve a global client base, including industry leaders in aerospace, industrial gas turbines, automotive turbochargers, fasteners, and superalloys. Known for their technological and manufacturing expertise, Doncasters is highly regarded for their problem-solving capabilities, time-to-market delivery, and through-life support. They operate on a strict Six Sigma basis, ensuring accuracy and reliability in their supply chain.
挑战
Doncasters Group, a leader in precision engineering, faced challenges with their traditional PC setup on the shop floor. The harsh and dusty environment led to frequent failures and high maintenance costs. The PCs were used for shop floor tracking applications, and the constant strain from multiple users logging in and out exacerbated the problem. The IT team needed a solution that maintained the functionality and ease-of-use of PCs while being more reliable and cost-effective. They required a system that could withstand the demanding environment and allow centralized management to reduce IT staff workload.
解决方案
To address the challenges, Doncasters Chard deployed NComputing's L230 virtual desktops. This solution provided a reliable and cost-effective alternative to traditional PCs. The L230 devices, combined with NComputing's vSpace software, offered a virtual desktop environment that was easy to manage and compatible with existing applications. The solid-state devices were rugged and could handle the harsh shop floor environment without the need for fans, eliminating dust-related issues. The deployment allowed centralized management from a single console, reducing the need for IT staff to be physically present on the shop floor. The solution proved to be reliable, with no technology failures since its implementation in April 2009.

Airbus Soars with Wearable Technology
Building an Airbus aircraft involves complex manufacturing processes consisting of thousands of moving parts. Speed and accuracy are critical to business and competitive advantage. Improvements in both would have high impact on Airbus’ bottom line. Airbus wanted to help operators reduce the complexity of assembling cabin seats and decrease the time required to complete this task.

Case Study
Aircraft Predictive Maintenance and Workflow Optimization
First, aircraft manufacturer have trouble monitoring the health of aircraft systems with health prognostics and deliver predictive maintenance insights. Second, aircraft manufacturer wants a solution that can provide an in-context advisory and align job assignments to match technician experience and expertise.

Case Study
Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).

Aerospace & Defense Case Study Airbus
For the development of its new wide-body aircraft, Airbus needed to ensure quality and consistency across all internal and external stakeholders. Airbus had many challenges including a very aggressive development schedule and the need to ramp up production quickly to satisfy their delivery commitments. The lack of communication extended design time and introduced errors that drove up costs.
