关于客户
Grupo Boticário is a global leader in the cosmetics and personal care industry, headquartered in Brazil. The company operates in over 50 countries and manages more than nine different brands. Recognized as the 6th most sustainable cosmetics company globally by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2022, Grupo Boticário places sustainability at the core of its business strategy. The company has been reporting its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions since 2008 and has disclosed climate agenda information to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) since 2022. Grupo Boticário is committed to aligning its business strategy with its climate agenda, seeking innovative solutions to support its decarbonization journey.
挑战
The main challenge for Grupo Boticário was the development of a comprehensive GHG inventory, particularly focusing on scope 3 emissions, which represent over 97% of the company's total emissions. The difficulty lay in data collection for new scope 3 emission sources, which required input from various departments such as purchasing, R&D, finance, and sales. The company needed to identify relevant emission sources and activity data to develop a robust GHG inventory. Additionally, Grupo Boticário aimed to transition from expense-based methodologies to mass data calculations to improve the accuracy of their scope 3 inventory. The company also sought to define a decarbonization strategy for its value chain, including supplier engagement, to reduce emissions effectively.
解决方案
Grupo Boticário partnered with SINAI to develop a comprehensive scope 3 inventory as a foundation for establishing science-based targets and building a robust decarbonization strategy. SINAI's Climate team conducted a relevance and materiality assessment to identify scope 3 emission sources and activity data. They mapped necessary calculation methodologies and emission factors, supporting Grupo Boticário in data collection processes. SINAI's software played a crucial role in centralizing information around historical emissions, baseline emissions, and mitigation projects, improving communication efficiency between teams. The software integration allowed different teams to collaborate effectively, providing a single source of truth for the company's climate agenda. Grupo Boticário's GHG inventory was fully verified by a third party, and the company signed a commitment letter with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to define decarbonization targets. These targets will be based on potential decarbonization scenarios built within the SINAI platform, enabling Grupo Boticário to identify cost-effective strategies to achieve science-based targets.

Improving Vending Machine Profitability with the Internet of Things (IoT)
The vending industry is undergoing a sea change, taking advantage of new technologies to go beyond just delivering snacks to creating a new retail location. Intelligent vending machines can be found in many public locations as well as company facilities, selling different types of goods and services, including even computer accessories, gold bars, tickets, and office supplies. With increasing sophistication, they may also provide time- and location-based data pertaining to sales, inventory, and customer preferences. But at the end of the day, vending machine operators know greater profitability is driven by higher sales and lower operating costs.

Advanced Elastomer Systems Upgrades Production
In order to maintain its share of the international market for thermoplastic elastomers AES recently expanded its Florida plant by adding a new production line. While the existing lines were operating satisfactorily using a PROVOX distributed control system with traditional analog I/O, AES wanted advanced technology on the new line for greater economy, efficiency, and reliability. AES officials were anxious to get this line into production to meet incoming orders, but two hurricanes slowed construction.
