挑战
UPM, a global company with operations in 12 countries, faced challenges in maintaining safety standards due to its diverse locations and growth in new business areas. The company had clear priorities and goals for social responsibility at work, including creating a safe and healthy working environment for all stakeholders. However, the various international, national, and local safety laws, regulations, and rules necessitated a global OHS&E solution for all sites and countries. The solution needed to ensure overall compliance with the UPM Safety Standards and assess and mitigate health and safety risks. The company faced challenges as different sites used different solutions for safety and environmental data, there was no common tool and processes for UPM in place, and there was a lack of global reporting for UPM Safety & Environmental KPIs.
解决方案
UPM introduced the SpheraCloud Health and Safety Management solution to harmonize their global safety and environmental processes and to provide with 'OneSafety', a common tool for all UPM employees, business units, and countries. The initial implementation included risk assessment, data collection, and incident management, as well as compliance-related software modules. The seamless integration of the various software modules available on a single platform is key to ensuring a consistent process across UPM’s organization. UPM has been adding new functionalities to OneSafety, such as Management of Change and Audit modules as well as an Analytics platform, which visualizes and monitors the company’s safety KPIs. These tools are available for all UPM employees to ensure broad acceptance and use.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).
