Shred-it faced challenges in managing its fleet of over 100 vehicles in the U.K., lacking real-time visibility into vehicle locations and driver behavior. This lack of visibility hindered their ability to ensure the security of confidential materials and meet customer expectations. Additionally, the company needed to enforce safe driving policies to mitigate risks and reduce insurance premiums. High fuel costs and vehicle mileage were also concerns, as there was no diagnostic information available to monitor fuel use or vehicle health, leading to unnecessary operational costs.

To address its challenges, Shred-it implemented Trimble's GeoManager Fleet Management and Driver Safety solutions across its U.K. fleet. These solutions provided real-time visibility into fleet operations, enabling better management of vehicle utilization, maintenance planning, and customer service. The Driver Safety solution allowed fleet managers to monitor driver behavior, providing analysis of maneuvers such as hard acceleration, braking, and speed. Instant alerts were sent to drivers to modify their behavior, and managers could use the data to implement reward or training programs. The solutions helped Shred-it streamline operations, improve driver safety, and reduce operational costs.
